FACULTY OF ENGINE ERINO 205 Regular Students in this Faculty may qualify for the Associateship and may compete for the Diploma or Certificate in Engineering and for the following Scholarships and Prizes Jelf Medal Walter Smith Prize for Civil Engineering Siemens Prize for Electrical Engineering Siemens Prize for Mechanical Engineering Walter Smith Prize for General Engineering Daniell Scholarship for Chemistry Drew Gold Medal for Mathe- matics Tennant Prize for Geology Tennant Prize for Mineralogy Barry Prize for Divinity Carter Prize for English Verse Carter Prize for Botany Stephen Prize for English Essay COURSES FOR DEGREES OF THE UNIVERSITY OF LONDON Before proceeding to study for the Degree in Engineering it is necessary to pass the Matriculation Examination MATRICULATION The subjects of the Matriculation Examination are English Elementary Mathematics Latin or Greek or Meohanics or Physics Heat Light and Sound or Electricity and Magnetism or Chemistry or Botany Two of the following subjects not taken under one of which must be language other than English unless Latin or Greek is taken under Latin Ancient History Greek Modern History French fEng'ish History German Logic Italian Physical and Gen- Russian eral Geography Spanish Geometrical and Welsh Mechanical Drawing Mathematics more advanced Chemistry Mechanics Heat Sound and Light Magnetism and Electricity Elementary Botany Elementary Zoology Elementary Geology NOTE -Candidates taking any language other than those named above must give six months notice Candidates taking either Modern History or Physical and General Geography are not permitted to offer this subject in addition Engineering Students are advised to take under No Chemistry and under No Mathematics more advanced or Mechanics and modern foreign language The Examination is held three times year in September January and June
