faculty of arts 117 advised to offer some evidence not only of character and ability but also of promise for the teaching profession-such as testimony to that effect from their Headmasters or responsible teachers The Advanced Study of Education Courses are arranged in preparation for the degrees of Educa- tion and Ph Education and intending students should write to the Head of the Department for further information The fees for the advanced courses are given on page 142 IV -FOR THE DIPLOMA FOR JOURNALISM Diploma for Journalism is awarded by the University of London after examination to persons who have pursued prescribed courses of study within the University in one of the four following colleges University College King's College Bedford College London School of Economics The Diploma Course is full-time two years' course Applicants for admission need not have matriculated but satisfactory evidence of their fitness and aptitude for the profession of Journalism will be required by the College Tutor In some cases Graduate Students are permitted to take the Diploma Examination at the end of one year Forms of application and particulars of the Courses may be obtained at the CoUege Office Applicants for registration at King's College should consult the Tutor to Journalism Students Mr Reed Lit King's College For information about Entrance Exhibitions and for further particulars the handbook on University Courses and the Diploma for Journalism should be consulted or enquiries may be addressed to the Tutor -FOR THE DIPLOMA IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE Under scheme of studies for Diplomas in the Humanities the English Department at King's College has arranged in conjunction with the University Extension Board full-time Day Course for the University Diploma in English Language and Literature Admission to the course will be restricted to such students as are considered by the College authorities to be qualified to benefit by attendance at the lectures of the Honours course The course lasts for one full session and the University examination for the Diploma is held in October Candidates for admission should arrange through the College Office an interview with Dr Reed of the English Department Further particulars are given on 122
