THE THEOLOGICAL DEPARTMENT OF KING'S COLLEGE LONDON UNIVERSITY OF LONDON ANNUAL REPORT OF THE COUNCIL Presented to the COURT of MEMBERS of KING'S COLLEGE on December 1st 1925 The number of students in the Theological Department remained at about the level of the preceding Session The total number of regular men students taking courses for the was 127 of whom 29 were evening students To this total has to be added 12 post-graduate students and 19 occasional students who were in the majority of cases taking special course with view to ordination though not reading for the Included in the totals given above are 21 registered internal students of the University of London who were reading either for the degree of or for some higher degree In addition to these figures it must be added that 64 students were in attendance in the evening Preliminary Classes conducted by the Theological Department These totals may be regarded as satisfactory and are higher than had been anticipated The number of women students of Theology showed slight decline as compared with last year the total being 67 It is noteworthy that the proportion of women students reading for examinations is increasing and that in the session under review five were reading for the or higher degree 17 for the Lambeth Diploma one for the University Diploma and 20 for the University Certificate The daily services in the College Chapel have been maintained and have been well attended the congregations at the opening services and the Commemoration service filling the Chapel to its utmost capacity During the Session weekly service for evening students has been instituted and though the numbers attending have been small it is hoped that they will increase as the service becomes better known Divinity lectures for students in other faculties were given by the Dean and Professor Barry The good attendance referred to in the last Annual Report was maintained and the results of the examination showed that the lectures had been followed with intelligent interest
