ANNUAL REPORT XXV Training Departments-Η Cawthorne who was appointed to the staff of University College Exeter and Sumner who was appointed to assist Professor Cock at University College Southampton Faculty of Laws During the session 1924-5 45 students were enrolled in the Faculty of Laws Of these 35 entered as Regular students for the prescribed courses of lectures for the LL degree were admitted as Post- graduate students and entered as Occasional students attending only part of the lectures in Law In the session 1923-4 47 Regular students and 17 Occasional students were enrolled Of the Regular students in the session 1924-5 19 were First Year students qualifying for the Intermediate Examination in Laws were Second Year students and were Final Year students qualifying for the Final Examination 12 First Year students entered for the Intermediate Examination passed was referred in Constitutional Law and failed For the Final Examination Regular students entered and all passed obtaining Second Class Honours and Third Class Honours One of the Occasional students entered for the Final Examination for External students and obtained Second Class Honours Faculty of Natural Science Department of Mathematics -The total number of students in the Department during the session was 231 Of these 94 were taking the Intermediate Course 16 in Arts 38 in Natural Science and 40 in Engineering 80 were taking Pass Final Course 21 in the 2nd Year Engineering Course 56 in Natural Science and in Arts 29 were taking Mathematics as subsidiary subject in the 3rd Year Engineer- ing Course and 23 in Natural Science 26 were taking an Honours Course 21 in Natural Science and in Arts and there were two Post-graduate students one in Arts and one in Natural Science In the Final Examinations the following successes were gained In the Arts Examination for Honours Part one student obtained Second Class and two Third Class while in Part II one student obtained First Class In the Natural Science Examination Part three students gained First Class one Second Class and five Third Class Department of Physics -The number of students who attended courses in the Department during the year was 341 Of these 164 were Day students in the Faculty of Science Among these were 32 Honours students 56 students for the Pass So degree 57 Intermediate Science students and 19 Honours Chemistry students taking Physics as subsidiary subject Students from the Medical and Engineering Faculties numbered 77 and 55 respectively There were also 38 Evening and Matriculation students In the Final Examinations in June 1925 13 students obtained
