ANNUAL REPORT XV Calthrop In the evening Reception was held by the Principal the President of the Old Students' Association and the Dean and the Scientific Departments of the College were thrown open to the guests On Wednesday afternoon College teams opposed teams from University College at Mitcham and in the evening the students held their Supper and Dance in the College Several successful debates were held in the first two terms The College magazine King's College Review under the editorship of Miss Selman excited unusual interest The College played its part in general University events King's College was third in the University Athletic Sports and was well repre- sented in the University teams The Secretary of the University of London Athletic Union was member of the College and the College supplied secretaries both to the Cricket and to the Athletic Club Several of the students gave useful service to the University Union of which one of the students of the College acted as Vice-President and to the National Union of Students Two students Miss Edwards and Mr Cristall attended as delegates of the student body of the College at the meeting of the International Confederation of Students held at Warsaw in September 1924 The Engineering Society had most successful year The papers read before the Society were of excellent quality The Annual Dinner of the Society was held in November the chair was taken by Cruttwell Inst and the guests of the evening were Engineering Rear-Admiral Sir George Goodwin and Mr Etchells The Anniversary Meeting was held in February at the Institution of Civil Engineers Sir Charles Morgan took the chair Mr Sidney Preston CLE read paper on Irrigation in India There was good attendance of both present and past members of the Society The fourth number of the King's Engineer was issued at the end of the session It contained number of articles by King's College engineers and an abstract of Mr Preston's paper 15 Functions In November very interesting lecture and concert of Greek Music was given by Madame Speranza Calo in the Great Hall The songs were sung in Greek and Madame Calo included among them Hymn to Apollo of the third century reception was given by the Principal and Miss Barker to all the members of the Staff at the end of the Lent Term in the Great Hall of the College On the eve of Presentation Day the Principal and the President of the Old Students' Association once more gave dinner to the New Graduates at which about 120 were present dinner of the Fellows of King's College was again held on June 11th the newly elected Fellows being the guests of the Fellows of King's College
