ANNUAL REPORT ix 381 331 of whom 286 258 were taking course for Degree and 95 73 course for Diploma in the Faculty of Natural Science 236 214 of whom 233 214 were taking course for Degree and course for Diploma in the Faculty of Medical Science 301 265 of whom 119 130 were taking course for Degree and 182 135 the Examinations of the Conjoint Board in the Faculty of Engineer- ing 127 134 of whom 92 101 were taking course for Degree and 35 33 course for the College Diploma and in the Faculty of Theology 102 95 of whom 21 17 were taking course for Degree and the remainder the course for the Associateship of King's College In the five Faculties there were thus 1147 1039 full-time students In addition there were 168 209 evening students taking course for Degree exclusive of evening students in Theology -105 105 in the Faculty of Arts 35 64 in the Faculty of Natural Science and 28 40 in the Faculty of Laws There were also 173 147 students of whom 119 88 were full-time and 54 59 part-time taking course for higher Degree in the various Faculties and students course for higher Diploma In addition 12 students were engaged in independent research and 19 25 were taking various Post-graduate or Post-diploma courses There were also in the College 310 619 part-time students day and evening who were taking course for first Diploma In addition there were 903 922 occasional students who were attending courses not leading to Degree or Diploma The Gilbart Lectures on Banking delivered in the College were attended by 1800 1785 persons there were 454 515 students in attendance at different Inter-collegiate Lectures and the preliminary class was attended by 78 86 students exclusive of 64 49 students who attended the evening preliminary class arranged by the Theological Department Studies Of the 132 Post-graduate students 96 men and 36 women all taking full-time courses for higher degrees who were working in the College during the session there were 64 in the Faculty of Arts 36 men and 28 women 60 in that of Natural Science 52 men and women in the Faculty of Medical Science in the Faculty of Engineering and in the Faculty of Laws Of the 64 students in the Faculty of Arts 16 were in the Department of History 14 in that of English 13 in that of Education in that of Slavonic Studies in that of Spanish each in the Departments of Classics Philosophy Psychology and German and each in the Departments of French and Mathematics Of the 60 students in the Faculty of Natural Science 18 were taking course for the Sc degree in the History Principles and Method of Science 27 were in the Department of Chemistry in that of Physics in that of Psychology in that of Botany and each in the Departments of Geology and Zoology Undergraduate studies again continued to flourish during the session and the total number of full-time undergraduate students in the four
