ANNUAL REPORT appointed Lecturer in Latin Palaeography in the place of Professor Walters for'the session 1925-6 In the Department of English the temporary Assistant Lectureship held by Mr Isaacs was made permanent appointment In the Departments of Classics and History Mr Ε Warmington was appointed Header in Ancient History In the Department of History Mr Wickham Steed former Editor of The Times was appointed to new Lectureship in Central European History with special reference to Roumania and the Near East and Mr Ifor Evans to new Lectureship in the Social and Economic History of Central Europe and the Balkans with special reference to Roumania and Dr Hubert Hall on his retirement as Reader in Pala ography was appointed part-time Lecturer in that subject for the session 1925-6 In the Department of French Frangillon succeeded Molino as Assistant at the close of the session In the Department of Spanish Mr Carey was raised from the status of part- time to that of full-time Assistant Lecturer for the session 1925-6 In the Department of Portuguese Sir Denison Ross was appointed Honorary Lecturer In the Department of Roumanian in addition to the appointments already mentioned under the head of the De- partment of History Beza was appointed part-time Lecturer in Language and Literature In the Department of Psychology Miss Η Wells was appointed part-time Demonstrator until the end of the session 1924-5 Mr Showan Lecturer in Education was promoted to the rank of Senior Lecturer and Miss Farrow was appointed part-time Assistant Lecturer in Education in connection with the admission of women students to the Department Faculty of Natural Science -In the Department of Mathematics Mr Davis and Mr Heath Temporary Assistant Lecturers were pro- moted to the rank of Assistant Lecturers In the Department of Physics Mr Williams was promoted from Assistant Lecturer to Lecturer and Mr Fisher from Demonstrator to Assistant Lecturer and Mr Emeleus was appointed Demonstrator In the Department of Chemistry Mr Gray Demonstrator was appointed Assistant Lecturer to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Mr Thomson Dr McClelland was also appointed Assistant Lecturer Mr Edwards and Mr Prew were appointed Demonstrators and Dr Miller and Sir Ridyard were made Research Assistants In the Department of Zoology Dr MacKinnon carried on Professor Dendy's work during his illness and after his death was appointed Acting Head of the Depart- ment for the Easter Term and Miss Μ Shaw was appointed part-time Demonstrator for the next two sessions In the Department of Geology Mr Wooldridge was promoted to be Assistant Lecturer In the Department of Botany Miss Latter and Mr Cook were appointed part-time Demonstrators Faculty of Medical Science -Dr Alwyne Compton was appointed to succeed Mr Boyd as Lecturer in Applied Anatomy Dr Picker- ing who had been engaged in research work in the College for over ο
