FACULTY OF THEOLOGY 279 Pass 1919 Theology is one of the four subjects which may be taken for the Pass Examination The Theology that may be taken is any two of the following Greek Testament Ecclesiastical History Philosophy of Religion Students desiring to take Theology as part of their course should consult the Dean SUMMARY OF COURSES Students who have passed the London Matriculation Examination or an Examination recognised by the University as excusing from Matriculation are admitted forthwith to either of the three years courses detailed in the Time-tables Syllabus viz for Diploma only or for the University Degree of and Diploma Students are strongly advised to adopt the second of these two courses If the student has not passed in Greek and Latin he will be examined in these subjects to test his ability to benefit from the lectures II Students who have not passed London Matriculation or an equivalent may adopt one of the following courses They may enter the Preliminary Year and receive full prepara- tion for the University Matriculation Examination in the subjects detailed in the Time-table Syllabus viz Greek Latin Mathematics History English No previous knowledge of Greek or Latin is required for admission to the Course but intending students should if possible begin the study of Greek and Latin without delay The course is for one year October to June and prepares candidates for the September Matriculation Vacation Revision Course is provided in the Summer Vacation list of the Greek and Latin books used in the classes is given on page 288 By special arrangement and in exceptional cases courses can be provided in subjects others than those detailed but it is to be noted that for the University Examination Mathematics and English are compulsory subjects the College requires the student to satisfy the Theological Board that he has an adequate knowledge of Greek and Latin before he proceeds with the or Degree Course All students taking the normal Preliminary Year Course are required to sit for the London Matriculation but failure to pass this examination does not preclude the student from proceeding with the course provided that the Theological Board is satisfied in the College
