FACULTY OF NATURAL SCIENCE 173 leading to that examination at the end of the session The courses subsequently attended depend on whether the Student- Is proceeding to the Honours degree in Chemistry Is proceeding to the General Sc degree with Chemistry as one subject Is taking Special degree in another subject with Chemistry as subsidiary subject Special Sc Chemistry Students Students who have passed the Intermediate Science examination and who wish to proceed to an Honours degree with Chemistry as the special subject should consult the Head of the Department The course to be followed lasts two years In both years as much time as possible is spent in the Honours laboratories Physics is recommended as the subsidiary subject General Sc Chemistry Students Such Students attend in the first session Lecture Classes and and in their second session Z5 working six hours per week during each year in the Laboratory Subsidiary Chemistry Students Such Students attend the same lecture courses as those under but only do three hours' practical work each week of the two years Advanced Courses and Besearch Work Advanced courses on special subjects will be announced from time to time Facilities for carrying out research work under the direction of the Professors are afforded in the Department General Sc Courses Intermediate Ī„ -Lectures Professor Allmand if 2-3 Tu and Th 11-12 -Practical Class 3-6 and 2nd term 10-1 3rd term 10-1 Sc General and Subsidiary 2nd Year -Physical Chemistry Mr Gray 12-1 -Organic Chemistry Dr McClelland W' 11-12 -Practical Class Th 10-1 and 2-6 Sc General and Subsidiary 3rd Year -Organic Chemistry Dr McClelland 12-1 Z5 -Inorganic Chemistry Dr Dolley Tu 11-12 Ze -Practical Class Th 10-1 and 2-6 Special Sc Courses First Year -Inorganic Chemistry Mr Cremer 12-1 and 2-3 Michaelmas Term only
