FACULTY OF ARTS 115 Pinal Examination in Arts In their SECOND year Students enter on the courses for the PASS or HONOURS Examination While an Honours course may be taken in two years after the Intermediate Examination and both the University and the College courses are planned on two-year basis it is generally desirable that student should devote three years to his Honours course For the PASS degree four subjects have to be taken selected from the following and Two languages of which one must be either Latin with Roman History or Greek with Greek History Both Latin and Greek may be taken and Any two subjects not already taken of which only one may be Science subject from the following list Latin with Roman History Chinese Greek with Greek History English French German Italian Spanish Portuguese Dutch Danish Norwegian Swedish Russian Polish Czech and Slovak Serbo-Croat Sanskrit Hebrew Arabic Mathematics Pure Mathematics Applied Physics Chemistry Geology Botany Zoology Geography Philosophy Psychology-General and Experimental Economics History Education Theology Anthropology Military Studies The Examination for HONOURS may be taken in one of the following branches but in most cases the candidate will be required to take subsidiary subject also Classics Scandinavian Languages Latin Russian and other Slavonic Languages Greek Indo-Aryan Mathematics Arabic Archaeology Persian Architecture Hebrew and Aramaic English Chinese French Philosophy German Psychology Italian History Spanish Geography Portuguese Anthropology The examination for Honours in Mathematics is divided into two parts Fart should be taken two years after the Intermediate Examination and degree and class are awarded on the result Part II may be taken at the same time but it is very desirable that if both parts are taken the course should extend over three years
