88 KING'S COLLEGE LONDON KING'S COLLEGE ENGINEERING SOCIETY President Stewart Secretary Weeks Treasurer Professor Wilson This Society was formed in the Lent Term 1847 by the Students then in the Department of Applied Sciences for the purpose of reading papers on Scientific Subjects and discussing the questions thus brought forward and also for the purpose of taking in as far as the Funds of the Society permit those Scientific periodicals of the day which apply to the various branches of Engineering generally Meetings for the papers and discussions are held about once week during the Winter Session The Annual Dinner is held during the Michaelmas Term the Annual Dance Smoking Concert and Anniversary Meeting in the Lent Term Members have access at all times to the Society's Room in which are kept most of the leading Engineering periodicals as well as number of others of more general interest The Society arranges visits to works and places of engineering interest on Wednesday afternoons in the Winter Session The Officers of the Society are President Vice-President Honorary Treasurer Honorary Secretary and Honorary Assistant Secretary who are all Students with the exception of the Hon Treasurer who is member of the Engineering Staff The Management and Direction of the Society is in the hands of Committee which is representative of students in all years of the Course all being elected at the business Meeting held at the end of each Term All Students in the Engineering Faculty and intending engineering Students in the Preliminary Class may join the Society The sub- scription is 4s per Term KING'S COLLEGE CHEMICAL SOCIETY President Hewson Vice-Presidents Professor Smiles Professor Allmand Secretary Huntley Treasurer Dolley Ph The object of the Society is to promote interest in Chemistry from professional point of view by papers of an advanced nature by eminent Chemists and by Students of Chemistry in the College Membership is open to all Students who have passed the Inter- mediate Science examination and are interested in Chemistry The annual subscription is Is payable at the beginning of the academic year
