vi ANNUAL REPORT been elected Members of the Corporation of King's College by the Council Finance General Account -The Committee are glad to report that the financial position of the Department continues to be satisfactory notwithstanding further diminution in the number of students in attendance during the year The income from fees amounted to £3821 135 6d decrease of about £390 on the previous year There was fall of about £700 in the fees from the Day Classes but an increase of £290 in the Evening Class fees the bulk of the increase being due to the institution of the Evening Matriculation Course The grant from the Ecclesiastical Commissioners remains at £4000 of which £500 is allotted to the Exhibitions and Bursaries Account The salaries of the Staff have been maintained at the level of the previous year During the year Students' Loan Fund was instituted and sundry dormant balances amounting to over £84 were transferred to it fund of about £60 held by the Dean for assistance in hard cases was handed over to the fund which with the gift of Miss Batterbury mentioned below is thus brought up to £194 The year's working resulted in credit balance of £96 185 4d and with the balance brought forward from the previous year there was total available balance of £682 8s lid of which the Council have transferred £300 to the Reserve Fund Corporation General Fund Account -The Corporation continues to receive about £400 per annum for rent of rooms leased to University of London King's College and the sum of £408 2s 6rf received on this account during the previous year was invested during the Session as Special Reserve Fund The balance at the close of the account was £600 15s 3d Of this sum £400 was transferred to the Reserve Fund and £200 to the Students' Loan Fund Theological Hostel Account -The financial position of the Hostel continues to be satisfactory although loss of £62 on the year's working has to be reported This loss however was entirely due to the undertaking in the Easter Vacation of repairs and decorations which would normally have been postponed until the Long Vacation The account thus includes charges which would normally be spread over two years The deficit has been charged to the Reserve Fund as also has the expenditure of £85 on new steel boiler She Reserve Fund now stands at £621 Benefactions The Council have to record with gratitude the following benefactions received during the year £1000 from Mr Harry Lloyd for the Endowment Fund of the Hostel and £50 from Miss Ethel Batterbury for the Students' Loan Fund in recognition of the benefits received by her brother from his
