60 FACULTY OP THEOLOGY That the same Special Subjects for Examination be re- quired from Candidates for Deacon's Orders in the Old Testament New Testament Ecclesiastical History and Latin "2 That the General Subjects of the Bishop's Examination be- The Contents of the Bible The Creeds and XXXIX Articles History Text and Subject-matter The Prayer Book History and Contents "3 That the Subjects for each year's Examination be agreed upon by Joint Committee consisting of four Bishops the Bishops of Durham Winchester Gloucester and Chester and four Members of the Council of Management of the Preliminary Examination of Candidates for Holy Orders The Examinations are always held on the Tuesday in the second week before or after Easter which is nearest to April 3rd and on the Tuesday nearest to October 8th The following are the subjects determined by the Joint Committee of the Bishops and the Council of the Preliminary Examination for the examinations in 1899 and 1900 general paper on the contents of the Bible Old Testament For 1899 Psalms Book 1-41 For 1900 Book II 42-72 Candidates will be expected to be acquainted with the Bible and Prayer-Book Psalters For 1899 and 1900 The History of the Northern Kingdom as contained in Kings xii -2 Kings xvii together with the Book of Amos The paper in these books will contain questions on their subject-matter criticism and exegesis together with ques- tions on "Introduction New Testament in Greek For 1899 St Mark For 1900 St Luke For 1899 and 1900 The Epistles to Galatians and of St James The paper in these books will contain passages for trans- lation and questions on the subject-matter criticism and
