388 THE SCHOOL Where necessary Geometrical Drawing is taught in the Upper Forms Latin may be substituted for German if desired if neces- sary boy can take both Latin and German -The Commercial Class This Class is intended to prepare boys for Mercantile life for Bank Clerkships and similar appointments The regular course of study includes Arithmetic Book- keeping Shorthand History and Geography Precis and Indexing Writing Drawing &c French and German are also regularly taught in this division It is generally best for boy who is intended for com- mercial life to enter the Mathematical Division at first and to be transferred to the Commercial Class for his last year of school-work י י Ι- Κ ι "י IT י ן Τ Λ ו -The Lower Division This Division is intended to give all boys thorough grounding in elementary work The regular course of instruction includes English History Geography Latin French Arithmetic and Elementary Mathematics All boys learn Writing to which special attention is given and Drawing and are regularly drilled Religious instruction is given in all Classes of the School except in cases where exemption is granted by the Head Master at the special request of Parents Pupils op the School can be Specially Prepared for the Arts Science and Medical Faculties of the College and reduction of 20 per cent in the College fees is made to such pupils as have spent at least five terms in the school It is particularly requested that when such special preparation is required information be given to the head master at the time of the pupil entrance
