CIVIL SERVICE CLASSES 365 week Students may also submit single questions connected or unconnected with the set course in any of the subjects Extra Fees -For these in addition to the above Students will be entitled to submit extra work extra papers and sets of questions in Arithmetic Book-keeping Composi- lion Geography History Handwriting Indexing Digesting Returns These will be corrected and in the case of Arith- metic and Book-keeping correct solutions will be given where the pupil has failed to obtain them The books &c from which extra work is to be chosen will be prescribed The extra papers may be on any of the subjects and may vary from week to week and provided the maximum number of papers be not exceeded more than one paper may be sent in the same week on the same subject The amount of work prescribed for the Ordinary Fees is such as may be done in the evenings by candidate who has some employment for seven or eight hours day If such candidate is well advanced in his preparation he could man- age one extra paper weekly Those who can give all their time to their preparation are recommended to take three or four extra papers weekly Work Must be Sent in Punctually -This is in the interests equally of our pupils and of ourselves Irregular work must be unmethodical and more or less ineffective Moreover as our Examiner returns the questions with our instructions and notes on them when he has finished the batch late papers cannot be corrected with the same advantage to the pupil and are at the same time distraction and an annoyance to the Examiner who is either preparing for or actually engaged on the next batch of papers In order therefore to induce regular work and to defray the extra postage which late papers cause us fine of Id per late exercise has been fixed No exercise can be examined which is more than three days late Books and Stationery -On declaring their intention of joining Students are supplied with list of the books and stationery required and recommended Students cannot do the work set for them unless they have the books required The books recommended are the best for the purpose but other books can be used
