272 FACULTY OP MEDICINE Bacteriology and Comparative Pathology -The Laboratory was founded by Professor Crookshank in 1886 to meet tbe great demand which existed for lectures and practical in- struction in Bacteriology and for facilities to prosecute researches into the causes and nature of the communicable diseases of man and the lower animals and the best means of preventing or treating these diseases so as to carry on the work which had hitherto been conducted almost entirely in the laboratories in France and Germany Pathology -This Laboratory is under the direction of the Professor of Pathology It is well suited for the carrying out of Research Work by Members of the Hospital and College Staff old Students of King's College and others such work is now being done It also enables the Senior Students of the College to undertake Course of Morbid Histology and to study any branch of that subject There is abundant material for investigation
