FACULTY OF SCIENCE 119 II Bibiston of Engineering architecture an& &ppltet1 Sciences Dean of the Division for 1898-9 Professor Henry Robinson Inst object in view in this Division is to provide system of general education of practical character for young men who are to be engaged in Civil Engineering Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering Architecture Chemical Manufactures or Metallurgy The Preliminary Course occupies two years after which Students follow in their third year any one of the special studies named in the preceding clause The whole Course forms an appropriate introduction to the higher instruction which can only be obtained at Works or by actually taking part in the practice of an Engineer or Architect All Junior Students begin by attending the Courses of lectures laid down for the first and second years respectively and those who have attended six Terms are at liberty to select for their last three Terms any one of the six Courses named in the Time Table Advanced Students are at liberty to enter at once for any one of the Third-year Courses See Table of Fees Students who have not sufficiently qualified themselves by their progress during their first year will not be allowed to proceed to the Second Year's Course and their certificates of Engineering and Associateship will be delayed proportion- ately and those Students who continue to make no progress will not be allowed to remain in the College Matriculated Students who have completed the full pre- scribed course are eligible for the Associateship of the College See Rules
