GENERAL RULfeS 45 if such attendance be omitted in any Term or Session the Scholarship or Exhibition will be forfeited unless the Scholar or Exhibitioner notify his absence with the causes thereof to the Council either beforehand or at latest at the beginning of the Term he is intending to be absent and forward certificate of sanction to such absence from the Head of his College or the proper University authority 19 All Scholarships and Exhibitions will be paid by Terminal instalments at the end of each Term and subject to the reception in each case of such certificates as shall be required 20 No Scholarship or Exhibition or Prize will be awarded if in the opinion of the Examiners there is no candidate sufficiently well qualified 21 At the close of each Easter Term Prizes and Certificates are awarded according to the following rules Prize or Certificate of Honour to the Student who shall be highest in the examination provided he shall gain not less than three-fourths of the marks allotted to the subject Certificates of Distinction One Certificate to each of the Students next in succession who shall gain not less than three-fourths of the marks allotted to the subject Certificates of Merit One Certificate to each of the Students next in succession who shall gain not less than three-fifths of the marks allotted to the subjects Prizes are for the most part reserved for Students in their final year and no Prize or Certificate is given except for absolute merit nor to any Student who has not entered at least upon his Second Term GENERAL 22 Smoking is forbidden in the College or the Quad- rangle except in the portion of the Quadrangle south of the doors of the Entrance Hall
