MEDICAL SCHOLARSHIPS 435 jiffletoical Entrance &φ ϊ ϊ ί$8 Two Entrance Scholarships of the value of Seventy 'Guineas and of Sixty Guineas respectively have been instituted for Students who propose to take their Degree at Oxford Cambridge or other British University having already passed the Examination of their University in Biology Chemistry and Physics The holder of such Entrance Scholarship shall not be eligible for nor have held any other Scholarship in this College One only of these Scholarships in each year shall be open to those Students attending the curriculum for the Degrees of the University of London The Subjects of the Examination will be Biology Physics Inorganic and Organic Chemistry and Practical Chemistry The possession of these Scholarships will not be entered upon until the holder has passed the Examinations in Anatomy and Physiology at his University Successful Candidates shall become perpetual Students from the date of entering upon their Scholarship No Scholarship shall be awarded if in the opinion of the Examiners there be no Candidate of sufficient merit Names of Candidates must be sent to the Secretary on Thursday September 24 Syllabus of Subjects of the Examination Elementary Biology The Examination will consist of Written Paper and Practical work The questions set will have reference to- The fundamental facts in relation to the morphology histology and life history of the following types Saccharomyces bacteria mucor spirogyra the fern pinus and the flowering plants amoeba paramoecium vorticella hydra astacus anodon lumbricus amphi oxus scyllium rana and lepus The structure and properties of the animal and vege- table cell The distinctions between plants and animals Ε Ε
