The Senior Classes are distinct from the Junior in every respect Broad Scheme of Work -The subjects taught are Religious Instruction except in the Senior Classes Hand- writing Orthography Arithmetic English Grammar Com position and Literature Political Economy Geography Physical Geography English History Precis or Indexing Copying MS Digesting Returns into Summaries Book- keeping by Double Entry Mensuration Euclid Algebra Elementary Mechanics Theoretical Chemistry Geometrical Drawing and French Shorthand German and Latin are taught as extra subjects Λ ο Ν Β -The Ridley Commission recommended that French and Shorthand be added to the Second Division Scheme and the Civil Service Commissioners in reference to this recom- mendation have strongly advocated the extension of all the Schemes of Examination for which preparation is given in Division of the Civil Service Department The subjects of the Boy Copyists' and Second Division Examinations are all taken up by boys from an early age Pupils go up from the Day Classes for all Examinations including the Second Division Excise and County Council Clerks and do not require to attend any Evening Classes י Advantages contemplated -It is obvious that boy educated in these Classes will have the best possible chance of gaining Civil Service Appointment At the same time his general education is not negleoted Terms and Hours -There are three terms in the year beginning about the usual times in January May September and each lasting about twelve or thirteen weeks Hours -9 30 to 45 each day except Saturday when there are no Classes Fees to be paid in advance -For pupils under 15 £2 106 per term over 15 and under 17 £3 over 17 £5 The fees are raised as boys pass the ages of 15 and 17 Extra subjects taught in the afternoon Shorthand Latin German 10$ per term for each subject for pupils under 17 156 for pupils over 17
