FACULTY OF MEDICINE 353 he Resident-Accoucheur within fortnight after his cessation attendance and in all cases of doubt and anxiety the Resident-Accoucheur must be immediately informed In cases of labour lasting more than six hours after upture of the membranes in cases in which the pulse rises 100 per minute in all cases of premature labour in cases η which the placenta is not expelled within half an hour after lelivery and in all cases of doubt or difficulty the attendant nust communicate at once with the Resident-Accoucheur No attendant is to use any obstetric instrument ad- ninister ergot of rye or chloroform or introduce his hand nto the uterus without the sanction of the Resident- accoucheur With the view of preventing as much as possible the isk of conveying septic disease every attendant must rovide himself with bottle containing in 000 solution of erchloride of mercury with which his hands must be kept iontinuously wetted during the whole progress of the labour Ie must also carry with him phial of carbolic glycerine η for the purposes of lubrication 10 No attendant whether Regular or Non-regular may lissect or frequent the post-mortem theatre during his period office 11 No Regular attendant can hold the appointment of Surgeons Dresser or Physician's Clerk but he may tern- porarily give up such duties if expressly permitted by the Dean and with the consent of the Surgeon or Physician inder which he is serving The Clerks of the Physician- Accoucheur and all those holding Out-Patient appointments ire exempted from this rule 12 Any attendant wishing to be temporarily off duty must arrange with the Resident-Accoucheur and submit to bim the name of another properly qualified attendant who undertakes all responsibility during his absence ζ
