faculty of medicine 341 The appointments of Out-patients7 Clinical Clerks and ressers will be given to those Students in order of merit vho have worked most diligently in the Anatomical and 'hysiological Departments and In-patient Clerks and ressers will be selected according to the diligence with which hey have performed their previous duties at the Hospital Special Certificates will be given to each Student who shall 1ave filled any office in King's College Hospital to the satis- action of the Medical Officer or Officers under whom he nay have served Application for such certificates must be nade to the Dean on the expiration of the period of service No Student shall receive certificate who has not attended egularly during the entire six months of his appointment If from any cause any gentleman shall be obliged to esign his appointment he shall immediately give notice in oriting both to the Dean of the Medical Faculty and ο the Warden of the Hospital If any Resident Medical Officer or his Assistant be pre- rented from attending to his duty for period of more than 5ix hours he shall apply for leave of absence to the Hospital Uommittee in writing Such application shall state the name 3f the gentleman who proposes to supply his place and shall oe initialled by the Physician or Surgeon in charge for the lay in token of his approval If the emergency is pressing the Warden shall be authorised to act upon the application which shall be laid before the Committee at their next meeting No Resident Medical Officer shall be absent from the Hos- pital at the same time as his corresponding Assistant except in the case of the Physician-Accoucheur's Assistant when summoned to Labour If Resident Medical Officer is temporarily less than six hours absent from duty and leaves an unqualified student in charge of his work he must make arrangements with one of the Resident Colleagues so that the unqualified locum tenens may clearly understand to which qualified Resident he may apply in case of emergencies
