276 FACULTY OF MEDICINE Physiology and Animal Biology -The Laboratory is unde the direction of Professor Halliburton and is divided into class room for practical Biological Physiological and Histo logical classes Research room devoted to Chemical Physio logical work Research room for experimental work and th Professor's private workroom Practical Anatomy under the superintendence of Professo Curnow has been much improved and extended Tin Anatomical Department comprises large lecture theatre class rooms and dissecting rooms and prosectors' roon for the preparation of anatomical specimens and for privah investigation and research The department is open dailj throughout the year except during the'summer vacatioi and is attended by many occasional students in addition the matriculated medical students of the College Ν euro-Pathology under the direction of Professor Ferrier This laboratory has been recently opened for the purposes of teaching the anatomy physiology and pathology of th nervous system and for original research There are both Summer and Winter courses of instruction which consisl of lectures and demonstrations In the daily work in the laborator the investigation 01 diseases of the nervous system and the preparation of large and microscopic sections take an important place In this way much valuable material for teaching purposes is ob tained as the sections are exhibited in the lantern microscope to illustrate special points in the lectures Practical Toxicology Hygiene and State Medicine under the direction of Professor Smith -The labor- atoryin connection with these subjects is utilised for instruc- tion to medical students and others in the detection of poisons and in the methods employed for the analysis of Air Water Foods &c
