ENGINEERING DIVISION 229 XIII SPECIAL MATRICULATION CERTIFICATES Examinations are held at the close of the Easter Term in the following subjects Branch English Branch II French German Elementary Mathematics including Arithmetic Algebra Geometry Trigonometry Mechanics Physics β Chemistry Civil Engineering Mechanical Engineering Engineering Design and Drawing Geology and Mineralogy Special Matriculation Certificates are awarded on the result of the Examinations under the following conditions To qualify for the Certificate Candidate must pass in at least four of the above subjects Of these one subject must be in Branch and one must be Elementary Mathematics including the three branches mentioned above The other subjects are optional and any number of them may be taken up Students who have attended whole Session's Classes and obtained Certificates in their Class Examinations at the end of the Session need not pass special examinations in those subjects in which they have obtained such Certificates The taking of this Certificate is optional but it is most ad- visable that all Engineering Students should take it at the close of their first year Those Students who fail to pass in their Class Examina- tions in Elementary Mathematics at the close of their first year are liable to be debarred from proceeding to their second year studies in other subjects
