MEDICAL DEPARTMENT 315 Candidates must give in their names to the Dean of the Medical Department at least seven clear days before the exami- nation No Student shall be permitted to hold two offices at the Hospital at the same time No Student shall be allowed to fill the office of Clinical Clerk or Dresser to Physician or Surgeon to In-patients unless le shall have previously passed the Anatomy and Physiology Examination of the Conjoint Board or its equivalent The appointments of Out-patients' Clinical Clerks and Dressers will be given to those Students in order of merit who have worked most diligently in the Anatomical and Physiological Departments and In-patient Clerks and Dressers will be selected according to the diligence with which they have performed their previous duties at the Hospital Special Certificates will be given to each Student who shall have filled any office in King's College Hospital to the satis- faction of the Medical Officer or Officers under whom he may have served Application for such certificates must be made to the Dean on the expiration of the period of service No Student shall receive certificate who has not attended regularly during the entire six months of his appointment If from any cause any gentleman shall be obliged to resign his appointment he shall immediately give notice in writing both to the Dean of the Medical Department and to the Secretary 01 the Hospital If any Resident Medical Officer or his Assistant be pre- vented from attending to his duty for period of more than six hours he shall apply for leave of absence to the Hospital Committee in writing Such application shall state the name of the gentleman who proposes to supply his place and shall be initialled by the Physician or Surgeon in charge for the day in token of his approval If the emergency is pressing the Secretary shall be authorised to act upon the application which shall be laid before the Committee at their next meeting
