ENGINEERING 183 Division will during the first two terms be instructed in the Carpenter's shop Division Β will spend the first two terms at the vice-bench and in the Machine shop At the beginning of the third term the divisions will exchange The courses will be Carpenter Shop First Term -Planing use of chisel &c -joints mortice scarf dovetail &c Second Term -Construction of simple models of valves and valve-gears &a such as will be afterwards practically avail- able for working out problems in slide-setting &c Machine Shop First Term -Chipping filing-scraping-scribing block &c Second Term -Turning-planing machine chine-slotting machine-milling machine &c shapin ma In the second year students complete the first-year course and then begin upon experimental work in the Engineering Laboratory Students will in the Machine shop for the most part be engaged in making and preparing apparatus and test mens for their future use in the laboratory speci- Occasional Students -Occasional students will have special courses of instruction arranged for them as far as possible to suit their individual requirements The fees are Six days in the week from 10-1 or from ן 5-2 or for any time not exceeding Per Term IV Year eighteen hours in the week £4 4s £10 10s Six days from 10-5 £6 6s -The shops are closed at on Saturday £15 15
