408 CIVIL 8EUVICE classes liatcly obtaining one of these It will be seen that Division ΙΓ of this Department is specially adapted for Second Division Clerks and others already employed who are pre- paring for higher appointments in the Civil Service The number of First Division Clerkships is being greatly reduced Hence no examinations have been held for some time past and none may be held for some time to come -In reckoning age for Home Civil Service appoint- merits persons who have served in the Army or Navy can deduct from their actual age the full time during which they have served and persons who have served foi two full con- secutive years in any situation to which they were admitted with the certificate of the Civil Service Commissioners or as Registered Copyists in connection with the Civil Service can deduct from their actual age any time not exceeding live years which they may have spent in such service Thus candi- date who is approaching the upper limit of age for Second Division Clerkship Excise or any other Appointment and obtains employment in any capacity in the Civil Service before passing that limit thereby secures re-admission to his Com- petition after two years' service Inquiries respecting any particular class of appointment should be addressed to the Lecturer entrusted with the pre- paration of candidates for that appointment General inquiries with view to determine what examinations should be taken or what classes attended should be addressed to the Dean of the Department Mr Bkaginton Edgcumbe House Friends' Road Croydon τ General Arrangements All fees are payable in advance in the College Office any day between ten and four except on Saturday when the Office closes at two or one hour previous to the opening of Class on the first evening of any period After the first meeting the College Ollice not being open the Lecturers receive the fees
