404 EVENING CLASSES Soils -Composition and Properties of Soils-The Atmo- phere and Soil as Plant Food-Cultivation of the Soil Improvement of the Soil Drainage Subsoiling &c Manures -Farmyard Manure and its Treatment-Artificial Manures their Composition and Profitable Application Crops -Chemistry and Physiology of Plant Life The liotation and Treatment of our Principal Farm Crops-The Composition and Value of Agricultural Produce Live Stock -Chemistry and Physiology of Animal Life- The Rearing and Management of Live Stock-The Production of Animal Food The Lectures will be especially adapted to prepare students for the Examinations of the Royal Agricultural Society and of the Surveyors' Institute This Course will begin on Thursday October 10 and will consist of about Eighteen Lectures ARITHMETIC BOOK-KEEPING Two Classes in each Subject Days and Hours of Attendance Arithmetic Monday and Thursday from 15 to 15 and Book-Keeping from 15 to 15 The instruction in Arithmetic comprises First Principles Fractions Decimals Evolution Interest Stocks Exchanges and the more difficult problems to be found in the University and other high-class Examinations In general the attention of each Student is directed first of all to that part of Arith- metic in which he feels his knowledge to be deficient In Book-keeping every Student is taught the principles of Double Entry and their practical application in keeping the books of mercantile manufacturing and other business houses in drawing the balance-sheets of public companies banks and railways as well as in working examination papers such as are given for the Government Service Bankers' Institute &c The instruction in this Class is for the purpose of acquiring thorough knowledge of the theory of Book-keeping for the
