SCHEME FOR JUNIOR COMMERCIAL EDUCATION 177 -This Examination is in general agreement with that of the Oxford and Cambridge Schools Examination Board and certificates granted by that Board and under this Scheme are mutually recognised as equivalent EXAMINATIONS Etc Students to be examined and classed at the end of each year in all the subjects previously learned but with special reference to the subjects studied during the year and at the end of the sixth year of Secondary Commercial School Life at the age of 16 or 17 they should pass an examination as follows the standard of knowledge expected being that of the final year Compulsory Subjects English including Letter Writing French or one other Modern Foreign Language German Spanish Portuguese or β Italian Commercial History of the British Isles Colonies and Dependencies Geography Mathematics including Accounts and Elementary Mechanics Drawing Optional subjects of which every Candidate must take at least one out account will be taken of each subject in which the Candidate satisfies the Examiners Mechanics advanced and Hydrostatics Sound Light and Heat Electricity and Magnetism -II is intended to make TWO Modern Foreign Languages compulsory in the early future
