SCHEME FOR JUNIOR COMMERCIAL EDUCATION 165 COMMERCIAL EDUCATION The following is the Scheme for Junior and Higher Com- mercial Education adopted by the Commercial Education Committee of the London Chamber of Commerce and unanimously by special resolution at the Autumnal Meeting of the Association of Chambers of Commerce of the United Kingdom on the 25th September 1888 and referred to in this Calendar at pp 453 and 513 As modified after consultation with the Oxford and Cam- bridge Schools Examination Board July 1889 COMMERCIAL EDUCATION SCHEME FOR JUNIOR COURSE COMMERCIAL EDUCATION It is proposed that there should be junior course for boys above 10 years of age and less than 15 or 16 and senior course for youths over 15 or 16 JUNIOR COMMERCIAL COURSE First Year for boys from about 10-12 years old English -Six hours per week Spelling and Dictation Reading recognized English Classics not mere Reading Books to be employed Recita- tion Knowledge of the Parts of Speech Simple Composition &c and Religious Instruction Writing -Two hours per week
