REPORT 49 IV Various Dr Carnally Appointed Professor of Chemistry in University of Aberdeen Partridge p&s ed W001wich Delaforee Stkange First of Candidates in Militia Literal Examination Rusby Fourth in Honours in Incorporated Law Society's Examination and gained Society's Prize Hampton First of Candidates in Examination for Surveyors Institute Brownlow d'A Passed into Sandhurst The Natural History and Medical Museum lias been muĀ£h unproved during the year On the ground floor of this Museum much has been done to improve the cases and to render the collections more available for the use of members of the staff and of the students On the ground floor are situated the collections of minerals rocks and fossils the dry comparative anatomy and zoological and botanical specimens as well as those in materia raedica while the gallery is reserved for the collections of normal and pathological human anatomy and the wet speci- mens of comparative anatomy and zoology On the ground floor one of the wall cases has had all the partitions removed and the shelves sloped so as to give more light and space In this case representative collection of invertebrate fossils is being arranged both stratigraphically and zoologically with the assistance of Mr Brown under the superintendence of Robert Etheridge Esq Keeper of Geology at the British Museum who has kindly given his invaluable services gratuitously One of the other wall cases will shortly be similarly altered to receive comparative anatomy series which will be arranged physio- logically All the table cases have had the middle partitions removed so as to admit more light and have been re-lined with grey paper The minerals are now arranged in locked
