388 DEPARTMENT FOR LADIES ESSAY AND READING SOCIETY Society has been formed for the purpose of giving Students the opportunity of writing Essays periodically on various subjects of study These Essays will be examined and corrected by Professors or Lecturers on the Staff of the College who will also give Students such personal advice as they require on the choice of books and the general direction of their reading The Subscription will be half guinea term for two Essays one to be written in the course of the Term and sent in before the end of it and one to be written in the vacation following and sent in during the last week of it Or Members may subscribe guinea year being expected to write not less than two and not more than six Essays- The Members of the Society will meet on the second and last Mondays in each Term to confer with members of the Staff on the choice of subjects and to make other arrange- ments The first meeting will be held on Monday October 21st at 15 to which all intending members are invited Fees must be paid on or before the date of the first meeting -1 Membership of the Society is open to all ladies whether attending lectures in Kensington Square or not Members who through living in the country or from other causes are unable to attend the terminal meetings are requested to write beforehand to the Lady Superintendent suggesting subjects for the consideration of the meeting
