314 MEDICAL DEPARTMENT Accident Dresser -The following are the duties assigned to him יי The order of Attendance for Dressers to act as Accident Dresser is controlled by the House Surgeon who is re- sponsible for the conduct of the Department It is the especial duty of the Accident Dresser to remain in the Hospital from 10 to 30 within easy call of the Hall Porter for the express purpose of receiving and promptly attending to every accident case brought to the Hospital If he should consider any case to be beyond his own powers or to require extraordinary attention he is im mediately to inform the House Surgeon of it and the House Surgeon must forthwith attend to it Although it may be expedient to point out the advisa- bility of remaining in the Hospital for treatment still the fact of any one hesitating or even declining to do so is not to interfere with the case being promptly and properly attended to before it is allowed to leave the Hospital If any case is sent to the Ο ί-patient Department the Accident Dresser is to go there personally with the Patient through the interior of the Hospital introduce him or her to the proper Medical Officer of that Department and not to leave that Department until he has seen the patient duly placed in that Officer's charge The Out-patient Officers are to give priority to all cases of Accident of any emergency whether brought to them in the manner above described or presenting themselves at the Out-patient Department in the usual manner Surgical Clinical Clerks -There shall be three in number acting under Professor Lister's House Surgeon Ophthalmic Dressers -There shall be three Ophthalmic Dressers elected by examination in Ophthalmic Medicine and Surgery They shall serve for six months attend regu- larly at the hours appointed and act under the direction 01 the Ophthalmic Surgeon
