220 engineering XIII general library The Engineering section of the Library contains large number of Standard Works which treat especially on the subjects taught in this Department to these the Students are referred by the Professors during the course of Lectures and they have the opportunity of perusing them in the Library in the intervals bet ween the Lectures or of taking them home for limited period subject to the Rules and Regulations stated on page 566 Fee foradmission of Occasional Students 10s 6d per term or Ā£1 Is per annum XIV engineering society Patrons the rev the principal prof robinson prop adams shelley kerr This Society was formed in the Lent Term 1847 by the Students in the Applied Sciences Department for the pur- pose of reading papers on Scientific and Engineering subjects and discussing questions thus brought forward For this purpose meetings are held every Friday afternoon during Term The Society has also valuable Library of standard scientific works to which frequent additions are made In the Society's Reading Room which is open daily to all Members the leading Papers and Periodicals as well as the Technical Journals relating to Engineering and Electrical subjects are provided The Expenses of the Society are defrayed by Subscription of 4s per Term from each Member Gentlemen who may wish to join are requested to com- municate with the Honorary Secretary of the Society
