Other proposals however were urged in petitions presented by the London University and by the Colleges of Physicians and Surgeons aiming at the same general object although in the judgment of the Council not equally adapted to the needs of the case It consequently became necessary for the various suggestions to be carefully considered together and the Government have deemed it best to refer the whole subject to Royal Commission which has just been appointed There is reason to believe that this will be the quickest course for procuring settlement of the question It will at the same time relieve the College from the expense of being heard by counsel and will enable its position to be represented by persons who have practical experience of the needs of education
