THE SCHOOL 501 The Class is open to boys from any part of the School who can pass Preliminary Test Examination which includes papers on the first four Books of Euclid Algebra as far as Simple Equations Arithmetic and Latin and French Accidence It is found by experience that period of th Terms is as general rule necessary to qualify boy pass this Ex- amination Special Books required for the Examination must be provided by each member of the Class Lectures in the Chemistry prescribed by the Examiners are given by Professor Thomson Extra instruction is also given between the hours of and four days in the week at the rate of Four Guineas per Term All successful candidates who pass in Honours receive Special Prize at the public distribution at Christmas No boy while member of the School can present himself for this Examination without the permission of the Head Master Qualifying and Competitive Examinations Boys desiring to pass Qualifying and Competitive Examin- ations are allowed with the permission of the Head Master to concentrate all their work during School hours on the subjects which they are required or propose to offer for these examinations supplementing this with special instruction in such subjects according to the arrangements stated below -No boy while member of the School can present himself for any outside Examination without the permission of the Head Master which will only be granted to those who appear likely to acquit themselves in satisfactory manner Special Instruction Instruction is given from to after school hours to boys who may require additional assistance in any part of their work The following are Fees per Term for such instruction
