470 CIVIL SERVICE CLASSES Superior Clerkships in India Office Eastern Cadetships Stu- dent Interpreter ships &c see Division II of this Depart- ment with Examinations of considerably less difficulty than the Class and an able and studious Lower Division Clerk making full use of his spare time would have good prospect of ultimately obtaining one of these It will be seen that Division II of this Department is specially adapted for Lower Division Clerks and others already em- ployed who are preparing for higher appointments in the Civil Service -In reckoning age for Civil Service appointments persons who have served in the Army or Navy can deduct from their actual age the full time during which they have served and persons who have served foi two full consecutive years in any situation to which they were admitted with the certificate of the Civil Service Commissioners or as Registered Copyists in connection with the Civil Service can deduct from their actual age any time not exceeding five years which they may have spent in such service Thus candidate who is approaching the upper limit of age for Man Clerkship Excise or any other appointment and obtains employment in any capacity in the Civil Service before passing that limit thereby secures re-admission to his Competition after two years' service Inquiries respecting any particular class of appointment should be addressed to the Lecturer entrusted with the pre- paration of candidates for that appointment General inquiries with view to determine what examinations should be taken or what classes attended should be addressed to the Dean of the Department Mr Braginton Edgcumbe House Friends' Road Croydon General Arrangements All fees are payable in advance in the College Office any day between ten and four except on Saturday when the Office closes at two or one hour previous to the opening of Class on the first evening of any period After the first
