CIVIL SERVICE CLASSES 467 U1tl Seduce idc iartment Under the General Direction of Mr Braginton Lecturers Braginton Dean of the Department H1NKS Harcourt Comyn And Assistants ADVICE TO CANDIDATES FOR THE CIVIL SERVICE It is better that Candidate for Civil Service appointment should have the whole of his time to prepare for his Examin- ation business occupation however especially if it be light-like that afforded by the Civil Service itself -is by no means incompatible with success and as matter of fact ύ large proportion of all appointments except the Class are gained by candidates who have been able to devote only their evenings to their preparation Boy Clerkships and Boy Copy st ship -If employment is desired before 17 Boy Clerkship age 15-17 pay lis week rising Is week per year until 19 years of age or Boy Copyistship age 14-18 pay per hour will leave more time for preparation for Man Clerkship or the Excise than most other employments the hours being usually only 10-4 It is an important consideration too ί that any one who has served in ther of these capacities for period of two years and upwards can obtain an extension of the maximum limit of age for Examinations equal to such
