MEDICAL DEPARTMENT 309 Three Regular attendants are appointed by the Physician- Lccoucheur from Students who have completed one course of lidwifery Lectures they hold office for one month during rhich time they must reside within half mile of the Hos- ital They act under the guidance of the Resident-Accoucheur ith whom they must leave their address on commencing uty Any Student is eligible for appointment second ime limited number of Students may have their names ntered as Non-regular attendants in book kept by the tesident Accoucheur who allots cases to them but preference η allotment will be given to the Regular attendants It is the duty of the Regular attendants and in their bsence or engagement of the Non-regular attendants to go mmediately on being summoned to all cases of labour ccurring during their respective period of office Every Student will be held personally responsible for every case hat has been consigned to him Every attendant must visit his patients for four con- ecutive days after delivery and continue his attendance as requently and as long as the urgency of the case may equire He must also report immediately to the Physician- accoucheur's Assistant the fact of each Delivery Every attendant must fill up the patient's card and leliver it to the Resident-Accoucheur within week after abour When any deviation from normal labour or onvalescence occurs concise report must be sent in to he Resident-Accoucheur within fortnight after his cessation attendance In cases of labour lasting more than six hours after rupture of the membranes in cases in which the pulse rises to 100 per minute in all cases of premature labour in cases in which the placenta is not expelled within half an hour after lelivery and in all cases of doubt or difficulty the attendant must communicate at once with the Resident-Accoucheur
