302 MEDICAL DEPARTMENT Candidates may be admitted to the examination befor obtaining their diplomas but no one will be allowed to entei upon his duties until he shall be qualified by some diplomj to practise medicine or shall be full member of the Roya College of Surgeons of England-that is have passed in Medicine as well as Surgery Such Assistant House Physicians as shall have performed their duties to the satisfaction of the Committee of Manage- ╬č ment and the Council during six months shall if otherwise eligible be considered as having ceteris paribus claim to be elected to the office of House Physician Physician-Accoucheurs Assistant -He shall be qualified by some Diploma to practise Medicine Surgery or Midwifery at the date at which his duties commence and shall have served the office of in-patient Clinical Clerk for the Physician for Diseases of Women and Children and Physician-Accoucheur or Out-patient Clerk to the Assistant-Physician for Diseases of Women and Children Candidates will be examined in Midwifery and in the Diseases of Women and Children No Student shall be eligible to enter on the duties of this office at period later than six years from the date of his Matriculation or y7ear of standing see page 251 in the Medical Department The duties of Physician-Accoucheur's Assistant are as follows He shall have the immediate superintendence of all the Midwifery cases under the direction of the Physician-Ac- coucheur or of the Assistant Physician-Accoucheur in the absence of the Physician-Accoucheur He shall apportion the cases see that efficient arrangements are made for due attendance upon them and accompany the Students to their first cases He shall require daily report from the Students in attend- ance and shall himself visit and hold himself responsible for the proper attendance of all recently confined women whose
