ι engineering 187 This course comprises about Twenty Lectures upon the yineiplesof Geology and Palaeontology and is delivered with fc la view of preparing the Students of the First Year for the Jvanced Course The following subjects are taught -formation of rock lasses succession of life-types theory of geological eras ossification of the primary and secondary strata with their saracteristic fossils and geological mapping The examination on these lectures takes place at the end of Lent Term The Art and Scientific Principles of Photography The Course of instruction in Photography is theoretical practical in those branches which are deemed most nerally useful to Students in the Department of Applied fences Besides instruction in the ordinary process of hotography with the Nitrate of Silver bath the practical ork embraces the preparation of pyroxoline of collodion sensitive emulsions and dry plates the method of using ry plates for portraiture landscape photography copying iagrams and maps photographing machines and the interior buildings It is also intended if time permits that the pplications of Photography to research in Spectrum Analysis nd Microscopy shall form special branch of instruction Hours 11 15-1 15 on Monday These Lessons are intended for those Students who have ompleted six Terms in this Department but those of the irst or second year may by permission of the Dean attend in payment of fee of 41 Ss per Term 11 י tiJUi 13 י glass house has been erected and in connexion with it Laboratory for the preparation of Photographic chemicals In addition to the regular Lectures to the Matriculated Students in this Department Private instruction is also riven in theoretical and practical Photography to such gentlemen as may wish to avail themselves of the Lecturer's services
