112 GENERAL LITERATURE Exemption from this rule will be granted in the case of Foreigners on request from their Parents or Guardians to the Principal II Must have pursued his studies as Matriculated Student of this Department for nine Terms This period is reduced to six Terms in the case those who have passed three Terms previously in the Department of the Applied Sciences or who have passed two years previously in King's College School and had spent at least one Term in the highest class before leaving or who have passed two years previously in one of the Schools in Union and who had spent at least one Term in the highest class of such School before leaving it provided also they have passed with distinction the Examination held at the time of their entering the College Students wishing to claim this advantage must make personal application to the Secretary at the time of entrance to this Department and if the claim is allowed they will be reckoned as Fourth Term Students III Must produce Certificate of proficiency in study as evinced by either Scholarship or two Prizes one Prize and two Certificates of Dis- ti notion one Prize and four Certificates of Merit such University or other distinctions gained after leaving King's College as shall be deemed sufficient by the Principal and Professors Must also obtain Certificate of competent know- ledge in at least three of the subjects taught in the Department of which subjects Classics or Mathe- matics shall be one
