474 CIVIL SERVICE CLASSES BOY CLERKS' SECTION See above for arrangements that are common to all Clerkshipi Students Competitions for Boy Clerkships are held at irregulai intervals of four to seven months Candidates for Boy Clerkships who join for one evening week will attend on Fridays The instruction given on this evening constitutes complete course of preparation for the Boy Clerks1 examination Those who join for two evenings week will attend on Mondays and Fridays On Fridays the Boy Copyists and the Boy Clerks who are backward in Arithmetic come at 15 and with break from 45 to o'clock remain until 30 Those who are more advanced in Arithmetic attend from to There are special Writing and Dictation Classes open to the former from 40 to 10 and to the latter from 15 to 50 Those who attend on Monday as well as Friday and are sufficiently advanced in their preparation for Boy Clerk- ship will on this evening share in the instruction given to candidates for Men Clerkships Those who are not sufficiently advanced for this will give their entire attention to the Boy Clerks' subjects On this evening the General Classes meet from 45 to 45 but there are Dictation and Writing Classes at open to all students Students with their whole time for preparation should attend on these two evenings and they are recommended also to attend one evening week in Class where the collective instruction of this section is supplemented by individual instruction This can be done by an additional payment of £1 10s for one period or £2 12s for two periods Students can join the Boy Clerks' Section for the second half of period period consists of eight weeks and attend twice week for the fee of £1 As the competition for men Clerkships is so severe no un- necessary interval should elapse after ceasing to prepare for Boy Clerkship and before joining the Men Clerks' Sections
