470 civil service classes Clerks and Students can if they wish join for any one period The Men Clerks' course has usually consisted of two periods The duration of the Boy Clerks' course is generally longer but is uncertain The Fees for Men and Boy Clerkships are as follows One evening per week -For one period £1 for two these usually form the Meu Clerks' course £1 13s Od Two evenings per week -For one period £1 13s Od for two periods these usually form the Men Clerks' course £2 15s Od Three evenings per week -For Men Clerks only For one period £2 4s Od for two periods £3 15s Od -The period is or weeks in the Men Clerks9 Sections and weeks in the Boy Clerks9 Section The Secretary's office is always open for the receipt of fees from 10 till Saturdays 10 till and it is also kept open from till 45 on the opening day of each period Intending students should if possible pay their fees before on the opening day Unless this is done they are liable to be late in entering the Class Rooms Students who wish to begin their preparation during the vacation of their Class or when the course is approaching termination are recommended to attend Class until the opening of the next course this will afford them useful in- traduction to the work of their Class The fee for Class will be charged according to the period for which the Student joins at the rate of 4s 6d per evening and the Student will be able to attend on one or two evenings per week ooks All are used for Men Clerkships Only those in italics are used for Boy Clerkships Required -Br00k-Smith9s Arithmetic Macmillan 4s 6d Hunter's Self-Instruction in Book-keeping required by beginners Longmans 2s Hamilton and Ball's Book- keeping required by advanced Students Macmillan 2s Curtis's Outlines of English History Simpkin 6d Dr Smith's Smaller History of England Murray 3s 6d Gill's Imperial Geography Gill 23 Warwick Lane Paternoster
