356 department for ladies Correspondence-Class will be informed every week of the work set to the two classes and they will be expected to send in their performances weekly -Fee Ā£1 115 bd per Term German Literature Monday 30-3 30 The Lectures on German Literature will be delivered in German The Professor will receive German resumes of his Lectures and return them corrected The method adopted during the past Session of paying full attention to the actual study of the principal works of the great German writers instead of merely giving general survey of the History of German Literature has met with so much approval on the part of the students that it is pro- posed to follow up the same plan also during the next Session Each important work specified in the appended Programme will accordingly be fully analysed and illustrated by the reading aloud of copious extracts-partly by the Professor himself and partly by those ladies who may wish to do so- thus imparting to the Students thorough knowledge of the principal productions of German Literature By means of this plan the students take an active part in the Lectures not to speak of the useful practice of reading aloud The first Term will be devoted to the brilliant works of the first Classical Period of German Literature more especially to the Gudrunlied which is next to the Nibelungenlied treated last Session the most important epic poem of Germany and the remaining two Terms to the Second Classical Period
