MEDICAL DEPARTMENT 257 will conform to all such Rules and Regulations as may from time to time be made for the good government of the College binder the sanction aud authority of the Council II Occasional Students or those who enter to one or more 3articular Classes Every Class is open to such Students on payment of the prescribed amount of fees see page 261 rhey have the privilege of competing for Class Prizes and Certificates The year is divided into two Sessions The Winter Session will begin October and terminate March 28 The Summer Session will begin May and terminate July 27 No one can be admitted into this Department under the age of sixteen except by the special permission of the Principal Thereis short vacation at Christmas extending from the day before Christmas Day to the day after New Year's Day inclusive Ash Wednesday Ascension Day Whit Monday the Queen's birthday and the Prince of Wales's birthday are kept as Holidays The Students of each Class are examined at regular intervals throughout the Session there are also Scholarship and Prize Examinations at the close of each Session Every Student must at the beginning of each Session make application to the Dean for written order for admission to such College Lectures as he requires to Hospital Practice and to whichever Surgical Clinical Course he proposes to attend This order will be exchanged in the Secretary's office for card of admission which must after- wards be signed first by the Dean and secondly by the respective Professors Leave of absence from Lectures or Hospital Practice can be obtained from the Dean of the Medical Department lone to whom in case of sickness or other unavoidable iause of non-attendance written notice is to be immediately sent
