APPLIED SCIENCES 201 Each Candidate for Matriculation must produce testi- monial of good character from his last instructor and when admitted by the Principal he must subscribe his name to declaration that he will conform to all the rules and regulations which may from time to time be prescribed for the good government of the College under the sanction and authority of the Council Special Certificate is required in the case of Pupils coming up from the School See School page 506 Except by the special permission of the Principal no one is admitted Student of this Department under sixteen years of age The full course of study which each Student is recom- mended to pursue extends over three Academical years The year consists of Three Terms viz Michaelmas Term from the beginning of October to the week before Christmas Lent Term from the middle of January to the week before Easter Easter Term from Easter to the beginning of July Opportunities are given to Matriculated Students to vary within certain limits the work of this Department on request of their parents or guardians Pupils who have passed two years in King's College School or in one of the Schools in Union have attained the age of sixteen and have spent at least one Term in the highest class of such School before leaving it 'and in the case of Schools in Union have passed with distinc- tion the Examination held at the time of their joining the College are allowed upon their Entrance to this De- partment to take rank with Students of the Fourth Term Personal application must be made at the time of entrance to the Secretary in order to secure this advantage Such Students in all competitions for prizes will be considered as be longing to the Second Year There are examination sat the end of the Michaelmas and Easter Terms when the Students are classed according to proficiency
