360 department for ladies LATIN Elementary Class By Warr Professor of Classical Literature Thursday 3-4 No previous acquaintance with Latin will be assumed and the aim will be in the Michaelmas Term of 1886 to gain familiarity with the Accidence and earlier Syntax by the translation of sentences from Latin to English and vice versa as preparation for the reading of an easy Latin Author and the acquisition of sound knowledge of Syntax in the Lent and Easttr Terms of 1887 The book used at first will be the Public School Primer by Warr Μ Α Professor of Classical Literature Intermediate Class Wednesday 4-5 This class is intended to form second year's course in Latin in continuation of the Elementary Class The year will be devoted to the reading of Latin Author and selections for translation into English and to the acquisi- tion of sound and adequate knowledge of Latin Syntax by translations into Latin The book used for exercises at first will be Dr Abbott's Via Latina Seeley Co Advanced Class By Edgeworth Thursday 4-5 It is hoped that this class will contain many candidates for the Matriculation and higher examinations of the London University The books read will be principally those which
