254 medical department minor accessory instruments All the other apparatus microscope and material are supplied in the Laboratory for which charge of 1Z Is is made Physiological Laboratory -Every facility is afforded to any Student who wishes to undertake private work in the Histological or Physiological Laboratories and special arrange- ments may be made for original research or private in- vestigation Practical Biology During the Winter and Summer Sessions Michaelmas Lent and Easter Terms Class is held in this subject in the Physiological Laboratory The Students are exercised in the various methods of investigating the Structure and Life History of the forms of animal and vegetable life It is intended that this Course shall fully comprehend all the theoretical knowledge and manual dexterity required for the Intermediate examination in Science and the Preliminary Scientific examination of the University of London For more extensive study of the tissues of the higher animals Students are recommended to take out the Course of Practical Physiology Chemistry An extensive Philosophical Apparatus Mineralogical and Metallurgical Collections valuable Chemical Museum and complete Laboratory are attached to the Chemical Department The first part of the Course is devoted to the study of the general principles of Chemistry and of Chemical Physics exemplified by selected portions of the Chemical and physical histories of the Non-Metallic and Metallic Elements The second part which commences at the beginning of February deals in similar manner with Organic Chemistry the classification of organic compounds being illustrated by the particular study of conspicuous examples The text books recommended to be read in this Class are Roscoe's Elementary Chemistry Bloxam's Chemistry and Miller's Elements of Chemistry
