186 GENERAL LITERATURE AND SCIENCE ances above mentioned bonus of £150 will as temporary and experimental measure be paid to any Candidate who having obtained permission to remain an additional year passes an examination qualifying for degree in Honours at Oxford or Cambridge This privilege will be hereafter ex- tended to any other of the Universities above referred to at which an academical distinction is obtainable which in the opinion of the Secretary of State corresponds to degree in Honours at Oxford or Cambridge and to obtain which the additional year's residence in this country is necessary
